On Friday, November 29th, the Lady Gregory Hotel was buzzing with excitement as Gort Community School hosted its highly anticipated Transition Year Christmas Fair. This year’s fair was not just an opportunity to shop for unique Christmas gifts but also a wonderful display of teamwork, creativity, and community spirit. The event featured an impressive 54 enterprises, showcasing creativity and entrepreneurial spirit from our Transition Year students, with contributions from some 1st and 2nd Year Business classes.
We were delighted to welcome Ms. Fiona Minihan (Supervalu) and Mr. John Coughlan (Centra) as our esteemed judges. They spoke with all the enterprises, offering valuable feedback and highlighting the exceptionally high standard of products on display.
Congratulations to the three standout enterprises who were each awarded €100 for their efforts:
A heartfelt thank you to the 33 local businesses and companies in Gort who generously sponsored our raffle. Their support made a huge difference and helped make the fair a great success. Congratulations to all 33 raffle winners!
A huge thank you to the Lady Gregory Hotel for their incredible hospitality and to all the parents, staff, and community members who attended. Your support is what makes events like this possible.
The success of the TY Christmas Fair would not have been possible without the dedication and hard work of Year Head Clora Neilan, TY Year Head John McNamara, TY Co-ordinator Michael Howley, Aoife Diviney, Aoife Lynskey, the Home Economics Department, and the many staff members who contributed to its planning and execution. Additionally, several school departments provided invaluable guidance to students in developing their mini-companies in order to help showcase the collaborative spirit of our school community.
Congratulations to all of our students involved on a truly fantastic event!
