In the theory part of the course, the Art History, we have looked at Impressionism. Please read the relevant documents on the Art History DVD I gave you. You will know the very important documents because they always start with VIP…
You have done some very good FIGURE DRAWING already. This class looks to be a very talented class which can achieve high grades!
Therefore it is really important that you work continously for the written part of the course. We started with SECTION 3, Art Appreciation. This is the part where we can see Art and Design applied in the real world, all around us!
Keep your eyes open to the following:
Where can you see visually exciting things? Such as an interesting interior, an object you use, a window display, a building old or new, a garden, roadside sculpture, a set for a play, a film or craft object.
These are all items which are part of the syllabus. You will be writing about one of these for the Leaving Cert exam. Now is the time to start looking out for visually interesting things. And do keep a record of what you see in both written and visual form!
Please remember also to keep up with homework essays! Areas we cover now will not be repeated in Year 5. It is a 2-YEAR CYCLE!!!!!
I look forward to working with you for the next 2 years
