Practical Papers Leaving Cert ART

You might have noticed that the practical papers for 2010 and 2011 are missing from the Exam Material Archive of the examinations. ie website. For 2011 they are in a different location, in Examination Information. Click on this link to see all of 2011 practical papers.

www.googleartproject.com major museums from around the world are featured on this google art website. You can view a selection of artworks, zoom into them, and create and share your own collection. Definitely one to check out!!

http://www.metmuseum.org/toah/ – the website of the Metropolitan Museum in New York, very comprehensive; a fantastic amount of info in both visual and written form covering thousands of years and art works from all cultures across the world

http://www.haltadefinizione.com/home.jsp Italian website where some renaissance works by Botticelli , Da Vinci etc can be viewed in very high quality definition, albeit with a watermark to prevent unauthorized use. You can zoom right in and see every brush stroke.  Sign up, and hover over the gallery tab and select Painting.

EUROPEAN ART

http://smarthistory.khanacademy.org/a multi-media website, part of the Khan Academy, with thousands of videos covering the whole history of art from Paleolithic to Ai Weiwei. Included are sculpture, architecture and photography. Definitely one to check out!

http://www.wikipaintings.org/en/alphabet – a fantastic resource, very extensive, not just paintings but also drawings. It has for example all of Picasso’s Cubist works! It comes at a price though in that the subpages are very slow to build – possibly because of the wealth of images – but it’s worth the wait! So don’t keep clicking!
