Junior Cycle – Year 3

Year 3 - JUNIOR CERT ART PROJECT INFO

Reminder to YEAR 3 STUDENTS:

It is important that you are continuously working on your project. You had a great opportunity to really get stuck into your project over the mid-term break. I hope you used this valuable time!

Here is a CHECKLIST:

   I am always on the look out for SUPPORT Studies

   I use my SUPPORT Studies as an inspiration and to give me ideas

   I am working from PRIMARY Sources whenever I can

   I use a variety of media (not just the pencil) and am experimenting with unusual techniques and materials

   I am looking for an artist in my big Art Book who did work that is related to my theme

   I do more than just one piece of work per week at home

   when I do work I spend as much time as possible on it to do as good a job as possible

   I check my school bag the evening before we have art and bring anything I have done and need for the artclass with me

As you know, the ART PROJECT must be completed by April 20th 2011. (After that date no more class time can be given for project work, as administrative work has to be done and the grey envelopes have to be filled on April 25 and 27th).

In order that you, the student, can finish on time, without stress, you are given a series of dates by which time you are advised to have the separate pieces of work finished.

You began your project on OCT 5th 2011

These are your deadlines:

November 25th 2011 –     AREA 1    = Painting or Graphic Design

January 27th 2012 -        AREA 2   = Option/Craft

April 20th 2012 -             AREA 3   = 3-d

On these dates you must hand up your

  1. SHEET OF PREPARATION
  2. FINISHED PIECE
  3. and where applicable your SUPPORT STUDIES sheet

Please refer to your project checklist.

Remember you must work on RESEARCH and DEVELOPMENT at home also (I.E. you always have homework!!!!).

VIP: FINISHED PIECES must be produced in class under supervision of the artteacher.

ART Materials: Ensure you have a variety of soft pencils (B2,4,6,8), a sharpener, eraser, a variety of media such as oil pastels, paints and brushes, colouring pencils, chalks, a sketchbook and a scrapbook which by now should be filled with interesting cut outs. You should also have some polypockets where you can store the SUPPORT STUDIES you are gathering for the project.

I look forward to the wonderful work which you will – no doubt – be producing. You have been an excellent and above average class all along! Do keep up the good work!!!!

You have worked well practising your figure and object drawing!

You have also embraced collages, Picasso’s Cubism and anti-naturalistic, primitivist styles!

Here are examples of Project work 2010/2011:

The 4 pictures below are especially for Thinh’s relations in Vietnam, so his family can view some of the work he did for his project. When he chose the calligraphy text he particularly thought of his Granny!

Here are examples of work done in previous years
