The drawing up of our school crest incorporates three symbols, which represent the traditions of the three schools that made up Gort Community School and the general historical, educational and religious heritage of our catchment area. The Round Tower of the monastic settlement of St.Colman, the first Bishop of Kilmacduagh represents the involvement of the Diocesan College. The Cog, resting on the the book symbolises the blending of the technical and academic disciplines at St. Colman’s Vocational School. The Cross, emblem of the Sisters of Mercy, recalls their contribution to education in the tradition of Catherine McAuley.
